An architectural classification
The British site Roofinmegastore, specializing in the sale of roofing materials, has established its ranking of the 50 most beautiful monuments around the world. For this study, 100 of the world’s most famous architectural works were analyzed. Their designs have been compared and compared to the dimensions of the Golden Ratio, to determine how visually appealing they are to the human eye. To do this, Roofingmegastore noted the most common points on the faces of each of the buildings, including the top and bottom angles, the center of the building, and points equidistant around the circumference, before comparing the distance between these markers to those defined by the golden ratio.

But what is the golden ratio? In a nutshell, this is a point of reference for ideal proportions. The golden ratio is an ancient algebraic equation that has long been used as an indicator of aesthetics. It is a barometer of beauty in a way. Many artists and historical architects have used it in their designs, including Michelangelo, who used it for his famous painting. The Top 10
With a beauty ratio of 72.28%, Saint Paul’s Cathedral in London is at the top of the ranking. Built in 1710, the cathedral and its famous dome welcome around two million visitors a year who come to admire the beauty of its architecture. The Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore also has an impressive frame. Saint Paul’s Cathedral in London is not the only one to make the top 10, there are two more famous ones: Saint Basil’s Cathedral, in Russia, with its nine colorful domes, a true symbol of Russian popular culture. And Florence Cathedral, one of the largest in Italy which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What would this classification be if we did not find one of the seven wonders of the world? The Taj Mahal fits in the eighth position. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is considered by many to be the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India’s rich history. Next is the Dancing House, in the Czech Republic, which offers a fun optical illusion. And the top ten is closed by the castle of Neuschwanstein which inspired the famous story of Beauty and the Beast.
