Two days after the mobilization of health personnel and even before the conclusions of the “Flash mission” which must be delivered at the end of the month, the Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon, unveiled emergency measures so that the hospital holds the shock this summer when it is sorely understaffed.
To stop the bleeding, the cascading departures from the hospital, the Minister of Health Brigitte Bourguignon announced measures to try to stem the staffing problems in hospitals. The first: overtime will be paid double all this summer. This “boost” will concern administrative officers, caregivers, nurses and doctors. A nurse at the start of his career will be able to receive 28 euros net per hour of overtime.
A measure rejected by the unions
This measure has already been used several times since the start of the health crisis. But Thierry Amouroux says it will not attract staff. “Working overtime in the hospital does not mean staying an extra hour or two extra hours,” says the spokesperson for the national union of nursing professionals. “It’s coming one more day in the week. When you have a few years of exercise, you’re already starting to wear down, and you don’t add more.”
Imbroglio around the situation of student nurses
To fill the schedules, retired health professionals who wish to do so will be able to lend a hand, thanks to simple steps: they will have the possibility of combining their retirement pension and a job.
Finally, the last measure taken: student nurses and caregivers will not have to wait for their graduation to practice. An announcement that surprises since the nurses contacted say they can work the day after the results thanks to a certificate of success.
