Greetings to all. I hope you are very well and that you and your family, God first, enjoy abundant health. This time let’s talk about the favorites to, at least, reach the 2021 World Series.
Most analyzes point to the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres as the top three candidates to win the October Classic. The paper says it should be like this.
That is not to say that we cannot turn our eyes to other organizations like the Houston Astros, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves, to name three very good examples.
First we are going to cite the specialized pages. Fangraphs published a list with the percentages that each organization has to qualify for the playoffs and only one team had a 0% chance and that is the case with the Baltimore Orioles.
On the other side of the coin are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who with 96.7% are the team with the most opportunities to play in October, followed by the San Diego Padres with 92.9% and the New York Yankees with 91.6%.
Clear favorites
CBS Sports also places the Dodgers and Padres above the rest, however, it places the Braves before the Yankees. So can we say that New York will reign in the American League and play the World Series against any of these three?
Already thinking about a Dodgers vs Yankees World Series, at least for me it is fascinating. The last time these two rivals met to define the champion of the season was in 1981.
Fox Sports, with its annual rankings, also agrees that the Yankees and Dodgers will be the title contenders, but they put the Mets above the Braves and put the White Sox in fifth place.
In ESPN’s case, they keep the Dodgers, Yankees and Padres favorites, but add the always dangerous Tampa Bay Rays.
What do you think? What are your favorites? I think we are going to enjoy a very electrifying campaign, without the public accustomed to the pandemic, but with many emotions.
Several players who changed uniforms, many super prospects in action, returning managers, legends like Albert Pujols playing and, in the case of Miguel Cabrera, looking for his 3,000 hit in the majors.
From our showcase we also believe that the Yankees and Dodgers are the favorites to reach the World Series, despite the doubts that there are about the pitching of the “Bronx Bombers”. The Padres, in our view, have another year to go before they beat the Dodgers.
