Whether it’s a sorbet or ice cream, they always find a taker! With melon, pistachio, caramel or even candy, the ice cream are a sensation with all. In mid-August 2021, tourists and locals, strolling on the Ouistreham beach (Calvados) Where Sea avenue, want to cool off. What could be better than ice cream for this? But then: what parfums do they prefer?
The classics: timeless
At the Cornet d’Or, located on Avenue de la Mer, “the classics: vanilla, strawberry and chocolate work best,” says Salomé, the saleswoman. However :
Children are drawn to marshmallow ice cream and Smarties.
When it comes to sorbets, lemon ice cream wins.
A few meters away, sitting on a bench, Thierry, a tourist from Versailles is enjoying his frozen dessert. “I always take the vanilla scent. At the same time, he points to the place where he bought it: Maison Candy’s.
The original artisanal
Three saleswomen dressed in a pale pink T-shirt present the different scents, each more original than the next: pain au chocolat, strawberry pie… “They are going pretty well”, smiles Michaël Mondot, the ice cream maker.

At the beach bazaar, “children particularly appreciate the mixture of sweets”, rejoices Gaëlle.
As for the elderly, “it is rather the coffee and rum-raisin perfumes that appeal”, retorts Camille, the second saleswoman.
It will be understood that the favorite flavors of tourists and locals differ from one ice cream parlor to another! And yes each person is different and therefore has their favorite ice cream flavor …
