An example of a “certified” destination is Mesa: the third largest city inArizonanot far from Phoenix, in 2019 was the first city in the United States to become “autism-friendly”. Remaining in the USA, destinations “certified” by IBCCES are also the city of Tolleson, again in Arizonaand the city of Visalia, located in California not far from Yosemite National Parks. The list also includes Boomers Park Los Angeles, an amusement park for the whole family in the Californian metropolis.
Broadening our gaze beyond the US borders, however, among the “autism-friendly” tourist attractions there are also The Green Planet in Dubai, a surprising indoor zoo and botanical garden with thousands of animal and plant species; the Legoland Japan Resort in Nagoya, Japan, and the Legoland Korea Resort in Gangwon-do, South Korea. Attractions on the list also include KidZania Dubai, a vast indoor play area with fun and realistic child-friendly installations ; and Six Flags Mexico, an amusement park in Mexico City which, in addition to being the largest in Latin America, is also considered among the best in the world.
Currently on the IBCCES list there are no European destinationsbut on the organization’s website there is the possibility of reporting a business that you would like to see included in the list.
