What are the advantages and disadvantages of Jeka Saragih going down in class at the UFC?

Jakarta

Jeka Saragih finally contracted UFC, but chose to move to featherweight. Usually dueling at lightweight, what are the advantages and disadvantages of going down in class?

Jeka finally got a UFC contract to be able to compete in this elite MMA duel. Despite losing at Road To UFC early last month, the fighter from Simalungun was still given a contract.

However, Jeka finally dropped down to the featherweight division (featherweight/65.8 kilograms). In fact, the 28-year-old fighter usually duels in the lightweight class (70 kilograms).

In response to dropping her class, Jeka Saragih I admit that there are pluses and minuses. In his opinion, going down a class makes his posture and reach more advantageous, but on the one hand he has to go on an extra diet so that his weight fits the division.

“Maybe moving this class is a joint decision with the team. But one thing is for sure, moving this class is very profitable. You can say that in terms of body posture, in terms of reach, there are a lot of them,” said Jeka when answering detikSport’s questions, in an online interview with several other Indonesian media.

“But there is a downside, one is that I have to go on an extra diet. Because I’ve lost a lot of weight, that’s why the diet has to be long. Maybe around 15-20 kilograms later.”

“But that’s part of the struggle, if you want to win you have to fight,” he said Jeka Saragih.

At featherweight alone, the king is Alexander Volkanovski. The Australian fighter is now the champion in that class, and last tried to move up to the lightweight class but lost to Islam Makhachev.
