30 years ago, director Steven Spielberg made a cinema hit with “Jurassic Park”. The cast around Sam Neill and Laura Dern also shone in the dinosaur spectacle. But what are the actors doing today?
Los Angeles – The mega blockbuster “Jurassic Park” was a huge success in 1993, grossing over 1.1 billion US dollars worldwide. But what has become of the actors from back then? What are they doing today and what do they look like now?
Sam Neill
Sam Neill (75) embodied the leading role of the paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant. He also completed these in the sequels Jurassic Park III (2001) and Jurassic World: A New Age (2022). Apart from the dinosaur saga, he is known from films such as “The Piano” (1993), “Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022) or the series “Peaky Blinders” (2013/2014).

In his autobiography, Did I Ever Tell You This?, Neill revealed that he has been coping with chemotherapy since March 2022 after being diagnosed with blood cancer.
Laura Dern
Laura Dern (56) was already a respected Hollywood actress before “Jurassic Park”: she was seen in the classic thriller “Blue Velvet” (1986) by David Lynch (77) and was able to act for the drama “Die Lust der beautiful rose” in 1992 even had an Oscar nomination for best actress.

Remembering the huge success of “Jurassic Park” where she played the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler took over, she was initially unable to continue. However, she received an Emmy and a Golden Globe for “Big Little Lies” (2017) and was crowned with an Oscar for best supporting actress in “Marriage Story” in 2020.
Jeff Goldblum
Cult actor Jeff Goldblum (70) made his breakthrough in 1986 with the horror classic “The Fly” by David Cronenberg (80). As a result, “Jurassic Park” (as Dr. Ian Malcolm) should not remain the only blockbuster in which he participated: The man with the loose mouth also appeared in “Independence Day” (1996) and fought alongside Will Smith (54) vs. Aliens. Goldblum also returned to the franchise with 2022’s Jurassic World: A New Age.

But Goldblum is also a gifted jazz pianist: His band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra reached number one in the US jazz charts with their debut album in 2018 entitled “The Capitol Studios Sessions”.
