The lira has not been in force since 2002, but many have wanted to keep some coins or banknotes of our beloved currency as relics to be jealously guarded. What are the 1000 lire that are worth a fortune? Here is the answer
First of all, attention must be paid to the year in which they were minted, as this determines the value of the banknote. What should also be kept in mind is the state in which the lira was kept, the year of issue, the serial number and the signature.

For example, if you own the 1000 lire with the image of Maria Montessori that were minted in 1995 and bear the signature of Fazio and Speziale, you must immediately check the serial number. In fact, if it starts with XC A, the value of these banknotes reaches 200 euros. When the serial number begins with an X the price will be worth 100 euros.
In case you have 1000 lire coins minted in 1970 and they turn out to be proofs (with a higher value), it’s time to act. These coins, in fact, were produced in a limited edition of 2,500 pieces and for this reason they can be worth from 500 to 700 euros. And if the coin is in excellent condition, its value can even reach 1000 euros.
