What are reading parties and why are they sweeping New York (and the rest of the world)

The way we have fun is changing. We don’t say it, but thousands of New Yorkers who are now turning their screens instead booksthose who replaced pub noise with literary debates. Those responsible for this latest trend will name themselves Reading Rhythms and they are revolutionizing modern entertainment with their reading parties.

To our four founders and friends, Ben Bradbury, Tom Worcester, Charlotte Jackson and John Lifrierithey understood one of the great problems of today: we lack free time for ourselves, but at the same time we are increasingly moving towards an isolated society and, worse, isolation, the pandemic of the 21st century. The pace of our lives requires us to work, play sports, eat healthy, have time for ourselves, socialize with our friends, read before bed and relax in just 24 hours. “That’s why we created a format that combined the two elements: the solitude of reading with the social element of connection. “That’s how our reading party was born,” Ben explains. What they didn’t know was that night when the first ten people gathered on the roof of a house in Brooklyn would lead to stream currently accumulating waiting lists.
