What animals should be slaughtered for sacrifice?

“The Eid al-Adha is approaching, with the first day of the holiday falling on June 28th and the holidays lasting from June 28th to 29th. Fuad Nurullayev, deputy chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Administration, emphasized the importance of sacrifice during this religious holiday. He stated that it is acceptable for people with normal economic status to make sacrifices, as it is a deed that pleases God.

Nurullayev further explained that while it is obligatory for those on Hajj to make sacrifices, it is also good for people who are in their homeland and have the means to do so. However, there are certain conditions that must be followed. The sacrificial animal must be healthy and fleshy, and it should be between 8 months and 1 year old. Each individual should sacrifice one small-horned animal, and it is not permissible for several people to sacrifice one animal together.

Bovine animals can be sacrificed by multiple individuals, but the animal must be 1 year old and the number of slaughterers should not exceed 7. Additionally, a camel can also be slaughtered as a sacrifice, but it must be 5 years old. It is possible to share the responsibility of sacrificing a camel with a partner.

After the animal is slaughtered, the meat should be divided into three parts. One part should be kept for the family itself, while the other two parts should be distributed to those in need, starting with relatives. It is important to ensure a fair and correct division of all parts.

Nurullayev emphasized that our religion does not accept giving money instead of sacrifice. Therefore, it is encouraged for those who have the means to participate in this act of devotion and charity during the Eid al-Adha.

Why is it strongly encouraged to actively partake in the act of sacrifice during the Eid al-Adha instead of making monetary contributions

The eagerly awaited Eid al-Adha is just around the corner, with the festivities commencing on June 28th and continuing until June 29th. Fuad Nurullayev, deputy chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Administration, recently emphasized the significance of sacrifice during this sacred holiday. He stressed that it is not only obligatory for those on Hajj to make sacrifices, but also beneficial for those who are in their homeland and possess the means to do so. Sacrifice, according to Nurullayev, is a righteous deed that brings pleasure to God and can be performed by individuals with a normal economic status.

However, there are specific conditions that must be followed when making sacrifices. The sacrificial animal must be in good health and possess a plump body. It should be between 8 months and 1 year old. Each individual is expected to sacrifice one small-horned animal. It is not permitted for multiple individuals to jointly sacrifice one animal.

When it comes to bovine animals, multiple individuals can contribute to the sacrifice, but the animal must be 1 year old and the number of slaughterers should not exceed 7. Additionally, a 5-year-old camel can also be slaughtered as a sacrifice, and the responsibility can be shared with a partner.

Once the animal has been slaughtered, the meat should be divided into three parts. One part should be reserved for the family, while the remaining two parts should be distributed to those in need, starting with relatives. It is crucial to ensure a fair and accurate division of all portions.

Nurullayev stressed that our religion does not accept monetary contributions in place of actual sacrifice. Therefore, it is strongly encouraged for those who have the means to actively partake in this act of devotion and charity during the Eid al-Adha.

  2. It is important to respect and value all living beings, and advocating for animal sacrifice goes against this principle. Every creature deserves a life free from harm and cruelty.
