The official date of its establishment is 1879, when Wilhelm Wundt opened the first psychological laboratory.

The holiday was created by UNESCO in 1995, which was inspired by the Spanish tradition of celebrating the patron saint of Catalonia, Saint George. There is a legend that says that he was able to save the country from a terrible dragon, to which people sacrificed their children. At the place where St. George killed the dragon, his blood spilled out and a bush of red roses grew. The saint plucked one flower from the bush and gave it to the girl who was to be sacrificed to the dragon that day. In the 1920s, an entrepreneur offered to exchange one flower for one book. Thus, he managed to increase his sales.

A professional holiday that aims to celebrate the important and very responsible work of school bus drivers. This work requires a strong nervous system, quick reaction, accuracy, attentiveness, and the ability to communicate with children.

International Day of the Spanish Language

The main goal of this day is to call humanity to multilingualism, to increase interest in language learning. Miguel Cervantes died on April 22, 1616.

Yuri (George) Victorious or Saint Yuri (George) is a Roman warrior from Cappadocia during the time of Emperor Diocletian, a Christian martyr and saint.

The son of the Roman officer Hirotonius and his Christian wife Polychronia. He was a guard and associate of the Roman emperor Diocletian. During the persecution of Christians, he lost all his positions. He courageously accepted death, refusing to renounce his faith in Jesus Christ.

In the medieval “Golden Legend” he appears as the standard of the knight, the conqueror of the dragon. In European painting, he was depicted as a warrior on horseback, usually a crusader, killing a snake with a spear. The sign of the saint was the Cross of St. George. He was revered in Christianity as the patron saint of warriors; was considered the patron of military ruling families (emperors, kings, princes), chivalry, in particular crusaders. In the Ukrainian tradition, he was the patron saint of Rus, Kyiv region, Galicia, Volodymyr, Lviv, White Church, Cossacks, Ukrainian army, etc. St. George’s Cathedral in Lviv is named after the saint.
