Today it is owned by CHFD, the François Dunan Hospital Center. In 2004, the local authority concluded an exchange agreement between the land in the Graves district and that in the city center. This agreement provided for the construction of an Ehpad, or a retirement home. The project has not yet seen the light of day, due to lack of funding. For the CHFD, the option of destruction is preferred… But the cost remains to be determined. A call for tenders was sent out with several objectives: to remove asbestos (the slabs and floor coverings would contain asbestos), then to demolish the building. The deadline for receipt for interested companies is February 15, 2021.
The old hospital of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon was put into service at the end of the 1950s. A diagnosis is planned for the month of June 2021, it is still too early to determine what will replace it.
