Wey Cars Officially Begin Sales in Russia, Stellar Patents AVE System, General Motors Cancels Electric Vehicle Projects, Forbid Cuts 10,000 Jobs, Aston Martin Opens 400 Vacancies, Voyah Prepares Debut of Fourth Model

Official sales of Wey cars (a subsidiary brand of Great Wall Motor) have started in Russia. The first-born in our market was a crossover Wey 05, which we have already talked about. This is a rechargeable hybrid with a 2.0 turbo engine and two electric motors, which together produce 421 hp. and 847 Nm. The only Premium package offered is 6.5 million rubles. The expansion of the Russian range should take place before the end of this year, but neither specific models (in China Wey offers three crossovers and one minivan) nor exact dates have been announced yet.

The world already knows about electric cars that imitate the exhaust sound of a gasoline engine. And the concern Stellar went further and patented the AVE (Active Vibration Enhancement) system for simulating vibrations for electric trains! The shudder characteristic of cars with internal combustion engines is created by a special motor with a separate control unit, which receives information from speed sensors, accelerometers, etc. With such imitations, the Stellantis concern is going to convince the most dedicated petrolheads of the advisability of buying electric vehicles – for example, the upcoming Dodge Charger Daytona coupe, although it will also have a real gasoline version.

Concern General Motors canceled or suspended several electric vehicle projects at once. As Autoweek reports, development of a compact electric pickup truck that would compete with the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz models has been stopped, and a mid-size truck (battery-powered analogue of the Chevrolet Colorado) and a delivery van have been put on pause. But the full-size twin pickups Chevrolet Silverado (pictured) and GMC Sierra will soon acquire rechargeable hybrid versions: GM, on the contrary, is intensively pushing this project.

Manufacturer of auto components Forbid announced its intention to cut 10,000 jobs in Europe over the next five years. The company emphasizes that this goal will be achieved not through direct layoffs, but through employee retirement and a reduction in hiring. Management hopes to compensate for the reduced workforce by extensively using artificial intelligence in the development and production of new products. These tough austerity measures are driven by strong competition from Chinese companies and a desire to improve their profitability in Europe. Forvia ranks seventh among all suppliers of automotive components in the world and first among manufacturers of interior parts and exhaust gas control systems.

But the company Aston Martin has opened more than 400 vacancies across its three UK factories. Additional manpower was required due to good sales of Aston Martin DBX crossovers. The DB12 supercar and the deeply modernized Vantage also demonstrated good order dynamics. In addition, the premieres of several more models are planned for this year – for example, the Valhalla hypercar.

Company Voyah is preparing to debut its fourth model – a mid-size crossover, which will be located one step below the Voyah Free model we know. The camouflaged prototype has already been spotted by photo spies on Chinese roads. On the outside, it is similar to other models of the brand, but there are no technical details about the car yet. The premiere should take place this year.

Also today we talked about new versions of the Porsche Panamera liftback, the updated Dacia Spring hatchback and the Volvo EX40 and EC40 crossovers.
