WeWard is launched in the US to make Americans walk »PACA Economic and Political Newsletter

With over 10 million users in Europe, WeWard is heading to America.

The challenge is daunting for the application’s 3 co-founders: revolutionizing lifestyles by encouraging walking and making it possible to adhere to a more responsible environmental and social policy on the other side of the Atlantic.

With over 35% of the population obese or overweight, in part due to poor diet and lack of physical activity – 87% of Americans use their car for their daily commute, WeWard challenges Americans to enter the walk in their daily habits.

The use of WeWard in France and Europe has already proven its worth:

• + 24% WeWarders daily travel time

• – 588,000 tons of CO2 spent (replacing the car with walking short distances)

• +7 million euros transferred to French bank accounts

WeWard’s goal: to change mentality and encourage the journey. For this, the company intends to use the best practices that have contributed to its success in Europe: organize challenges, allow companies to make donations to associations or even earn some money.

Yves Benchimol, co-founder and CEO decided to take up the challenge and moved to New York to open the American office of WeWard:

“The United States is a great challenge for us because physical inactivity and inactivity affect a large part of the population. Entering the American market would significantly increase our impact on health but also on the environment, changing the travel habits of Americans, where personal thermal vehicles represent 65% of home-work trips ”.
