Goalkeeper Weverton, from Palmeiras, was cut from the Brazilian team that is preparing for another World Cup Qualifiers game. With that, coach Tite summoned Santos, from Athletico, to his place, aiming at the match against Bolivia.
Weverton suffered trauma to his left hand in today’s training (27). According to the CBF, he was then referred to undergo imaging tests. The medical department found that Weverton would not be able to act against the Bolivians on Tuesday (29) and, therefore, decided to cut.
“Any fractures were ruled out. Normally, in this type of injury, it is important to observe the first 24 hours, but for logistical reasons we do not have this deadline. that he would be in his best condition to play on Tuesday. The athlete goes to Palmeiras to continue his treatment, and we believe that in a short time he will be able to fully recover” explained the team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar.
In relation to Palmeiras, the cut generates attention. Abel Ferreira’s team plays Wednesday and on Saturday or Sunday the second match of the Paulista final, against São Paulo. It will be necessary to follow the evolution of his team to know if the goalkeeper will be able to act. Marcelo Lomba did well against Red Bull and is the immediate replacement.
Santos, on the other hand, won’t even be able to train with the national team before leaving for La Paz, the venue for Tuesday’s game. Brazil trains tomorrow (28) in the morning in Teresópolis and the goalkeeper will join the group at Galeão airport, during the trip to Bolivia.
On the current FIFA date, the Brazilian team had already lost Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson with gastroenteritis. Everson, do Atlético-MGwas called to his place and arrived hours before the duel against Chile, at Maracanã.
