The atmosphere heated up between two Palmeiras players during the match against Fortaleza, today (20), at Castelão. Goalkeeper Weverton and defender Gustavo Gómez had a bitter argument in the last minutes of the first half.
The discussion took place two minutes after Fortaleza opened the scoreboard. As soon as Danilo made a foul in midfield on Matheus Jussa, Gustavo Goméz turned towards the Palmeira goal and started to mouth with Weverton, who was making a gesture with his elbow.
The Paraguayan defender was the one who was the most irritated. He was even restrained by Luan and Danilo, but continued to complain to Weverton. Afterwards, he went towards coach Abel Ferreira, pointing to where the Palmeira goalkeeper was.
“It was a part of the game. The atmosphere of the game is always like that, we always want to win. I was approaching to talk to Professor Abel and he [Weverton] he wanted me to complain to the referee because Mayke was on the ground. But that’s what happens. We talk at half-time and everything is fine,” Gustavo Gómez told the Premiere after the match.
