Hairdressers fear a second lockdown and they may have to close the doors again. The fact that they were forced to remain closed for weeks this spring has left deep marks.

“Things are not going in the right direction with the corona figures”, is how hairdressing association ANKO describes the current situation. “We worked with all our might in May to reopen. Hairdressers are doing very well, it will be a shame if they have to close again, ”said a spokeswoman.
‘Bad for the profession’
According to the spokeswoman, the cutting entrepreneurs are really afraid of a new closure. “Our industry consists of many small entrepreneurs, who sailed on their savings during the first closure. We have had quite a hit. ”

Hairdresser Arie Klein from Emmen can already see the storm coming. “I’m certainly worried about it. It would be bad for the profession. We see that people are becoming more reserved, I am not happy about that. ” The entrepreneur can survive a few weeks of lockdown, but he fears that he will have to close for longer. “If it will take eight weeks, I don’t know if I can foresee the consequences.”
Do you need a haircut quickly?
But before that happens, the hairdressers still have to work hard, or so is the expectation. The trend is that many people quickly go to the hairdresser before every corona press conference for fear of a new closure.
“We hear it more often, but don’t really see it in the figures,” says the ANKO spokeswoman. “It was very busy before the last press conference, but after that it became quieter again,” she says. “We were greatly missed last time, and that was a relief.”
