Wetzikon approves loan for new railway bridge

The city of Wetzikon approved a loan of 175,000 francs as part of the cost of the SBB project to replace the Usterstrasse railway bridge.

The resolutions from the meeting of the Wetzik City Council on October 2, 2024 have been officially announced. The city council has dealt with important issues, including economic and location development, the renewal of roads and financing issues for various projects.

The city council decided to approve a loan of 99,500 francs for the development of a strategy for economic and location development. This project is crucial for the future development of the city of Wetzikon and includes reviews and adjustments in the city council’s governance model.

Another important decision concerns the replacement of the Usterstrasse railway bridge. A loan of 175,000 francs is approved here to support the planning and implementation by the SBB. This measure is intended to improve road safety, especially for pedestrians and cyclists.

Further decisions of the city council

The renewal of Bachtelstrasse has also been decided. This project includes the renovation of the street and lighting as well as the introduction of a 30 km/h speed limit to reduce noise in residential areas. The project is carried out in close coordination with third-party projects and residents to ensure optimal solutions.

In addition, the city council approved the consultation responses to the cantonal motion regarding “A cantonal court in tax proceedings”. The city council supports the current system with two cantonal court instances and rejects a concentration on a single instance.

Loan settlements and construction projects

The loan settlement for the renewal of Ettenhauserstrasse Ost and Sonnenfeldstrasse was approved with additional costs of 61,428.51 francs. In addition, the consultation responses to the amendment to the Energy Act and the plan approval process for systems using renewable energies were approved.
