Wet weather leads to closed roads, landslides and power problems

The police report that water in the roadway leads to major traffic problems in several places in the country.

The Oslo police write about several roads in Bærum that should be avoided, precisely because of water in the roadway.

The South-East police district writes that there has been a landslide over county road 45, which has led to the road being closed. A geologist has also been sent to the site, to assess the danger of new landslides.

The police in the South-East also write that there is a lot of water in the road on European road 134, in Kviteseid in West Telemark.

High water flow

Varsom.no writes that the water flow is increasing in most rivers in Agder and south-west in Telemark. In addition, they write that the water flow will also increase in Viken and in parts of the Inland.

Furthermore, the site recommends staying away from flooded streams and rivers.

A yellow warning has also been issued for floods and landslides for parts of southern and eastern Norway.

Power issues

In addition, the weather led to more than 1,000 households without electricity in Eastern Norway.

– We had a power outage at 20.29 at Lillehammer. There are 984 customers without electricity, said Elvia’s communications manager Morten Schau to TV 2.

He says that strong winds have most likely led to the challenges.

– We assume that it is a tree that has blown over the line. But we have people out there trying to find out where the fault lies, he continued.

At 23.00 Elvia informs on their websites that the power issues have been fixed.
