NEW YORK — The New York area will be gray and wet through Thursday with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly through the afternoon and evening hours.
The heaviest rains are expected overnight and Friday morning. These stronger morning storms have a small chance of becoming severe and damaging winds are the main threat as they move through the morning rush hour.
By noon Friday the storms should be out of the area and then much nicer weather and an even better weekend would follow. Of note is the return of wildfire smoke in the coming days to our area that will likely linger in the upper atmosphere and create hazy skies, but not affect air quality much.
