Today the third and last day of the Meerpaaldagen got off to a wet start in Dronten. Not good news for the Meerpaalrit, where owners of old-timer mopeds were ready for a nice tour through the province.
Normally there are about forty old-timers on display in Dronten, but some owners chose to cancel the start and join the tour later in the day.
But rain or no rain, it didn’t spoil the fun of the other participants. “We will meet the other group later this afternoon,” says Hermann Ehlting of Oldtimer Moped Club Elburg en Omstreken. “What’s the great thing about moped riding? You feel young again. It’s like I feel 16 again.”
Satisfied
The organization looks back on the Meerpaal days with satisfaction. “We have nothing to complain about. Friday evening we had a super performance here. When I saw that everyone was going crazy, I thought: we did it well again.”
