Wet and happy, but quiet football evening in Bavaria | Free press

Full beer gardens, happy fans and summer temperatures – the police in Bavaria are taking stock of the football evening. There are only minor incidents in the European Championship city of Munich – and a topic of conversation on the Internet.

Munich (AP) – The German national soccer team’s 4-2 victory against Portugal was a calm experience for the Bavarian police. Officials wrote in a preliminary balance sheet that there were no significant incidents in Munich.

Tens of thousands of people were out and about in the city center – many of them in Germany jerseys and jam-packed beer gardens and restaurants. There were no car parades, only a few fans drove through the city center honking their horns. Many left it with wet and happy chants.

Occasionally people lit smoke bodies and were reported for it, the Munich police said. A pilot who launched his drone near the arena was arrested by officials. The 48-year-old man steered the drone into the no-fly zone around an hour before the game started, said a police spokesman. The pilot was found by units and briefly arrested for the establishment of his personal details. Around 1,500 officials were on duty in the second round of the game for the Germans in the stadium area and in downtown Munich.

The police headquarters in Middle Franconia, Lower Franconia, Lower Bavaria, Swabia and the Upper Palatinate consistently described the summer football evening as calm and cheerful – and always without major incidents. In many places in Bavaria, sunny beer garden weather was around 30 degrees.

In the Munich beer gardens, not everyone obeyed the rules of distance when they were in awe of joy. Instead, after the goals of the German national soccer team, the fans were in each other’s arms and crowded together, as reporters reported. The preliminary round meeting of the national team was broadcast in many beer gardens. In the afternoon the police had reported that many restaurants were full.

In the fight against the corona virus, certain rules still apply in Munich. In outdoor catering, for example, you must keep your distance between the permitted group meetings.

Even during the game, a carefree pigeon on the grass in the stadium made sure to smile. On Saturday evening TV pictures of the first half showed, among other things, how the bird sat near the Portuguese penalty area and flew in the direction of the sideline from a German pass.

“The pigeon:” You’re annoying, can you please play somewhere else, I want to sit here “, wrote a user on Twitter. Another commented: “I would also like the pigeon to rest in the field”. Hundreds of users also commented on the bird’s behavior on Instagram and Facebook.
