“I am a farmer child, and I want to sing our native Chinese folk songs all over the world…” This was once Gao Poly’s wish. During his decades of singing career, Gao Baoli often performed overseas with art troupes, singing Chinese original folk songs abroad.

After Gao Baoli passed away, many friends mourned on social platforms. Chinese female singer Gong Linna mourned on Weibo on the 25th: “Very suddenly, I haven’t seen it for a long time, the yin and yang are separated, very sad.”

Gao Baoli’s son, Gao Hongrui, wrote in his circle of friends: “I really hope that this is a dream. After I wake up, everything is safe and normal. Although I know this is imagined, I hope it can be realized.”

Gao Baoli was born in Lingqiu County, Shanxi Province in 1976. He was originally an actor in the local Luoluoqiang troupe. To pursue his musical dream, he resigned from the troupe and went to Beijing to work hard. Later, he was accepted as a closed disciple by the Chinese singer Wang Kun and became a soloist in the Chinese Opera and Dance Theater.
