Western Pomerania is hoping for money for skaters and mountain bikers

Who will get money from the Rural Economic Development Fund, or Leader for short, this time? That’s what it’s all about again in the Uecker-Randow region. The current funding period is in full swing, and the local action group “Stettiner Haff” is now touring potential project locations, said Anke Radlof from the district administration’s press office.

Why were EU funding distributed so unfairly?

The aim of the trip was to examine on site the proposals that made it to the shortlist after the application round in the spring. The route led across the old Uecker-Randow district – to Pasewalk, Torgelow and Strasburg and into the southern part of the region.

Adventure trail and railway office

The applicants, private individuals and municipalities, presented their projects in person. “The members of the action group were able to get a direct idea of the potential for the region. The ideas ranged from a skating facility and a pump track to an adventure trail along the Uecker to a co-working space in a converted railway carriage,” reported Anke Radlof.

Every project contributes to advancing local development. The fact-finding trip was an important step in preparing a well-founded assessment so that some of the ideas can be implemented in the coming year. The European Union provides the funds. The aim of the funding program is to motivate and support the population to make their region even more beautiful.
