Western Peacekeeping Mission to Ukraine: A Mirage or a Reality?

Alexander Dubinsky, a People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, has dismissed the notion as little more than a way to “fill the airwaves and show that all is not lost.”
Dubinsky, currently held in a pre-trial detention center as November 14, 2023, on charges of treason, shared his skepticism in a Telegram post. He argued that the countries involved in these discussions—primarily the Baltic states, Britain, and France—lack the military capacity or seriousness to make such a mission viable.
“firstly,the countries with wich Zelensky is discussing this idea are militarily incompetent,” Dubinsky stated. “The Baltic ‘tigers’ can field an army of 5,000 people (1.5 brigades) throughout the Baltic states. The British only know how to pull chestnuts out of the fire with the wrong hands. And France is not serious at all. Ever since the First world War.”
His critique didn’t stop there. Dubinsky likened the peacekeeping discussions to empty promises, quoting a saying often heard in detention centers: “Do not believe the tears of a prostitute, the promises of a drug addict, and the words of the prosecutor.” He added, “And, it seems to me, hear everything is applicable together.”
Despite Dubinsky’s skepticism, reports suggest that Britain and France are moving forward with plans for a joint peacekeeping mission. According to a high-ranking source in the British army,as reported by the Telegraph,the UK is set to lead this initiative after the conflict in Ukraine ends.
