Western countries rushed to African countries to replace oil and gas from Russia. This was stated by the Angolan Ambassador to Russia Augusto da Silva Cunha.
“I cannot but say about the situation that has become a consequence of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Today, Western countries are literally fleeing to Africa, including Angola, to develop economic cooperation with the region. Both we and they know that many minerals are found in Africa,” the ambassador told RIA Novosti. According to him, various economic forums are increasingly being held: “USA-Africa”, “France-Africa”, “China-Africa”, etc.
“This shows that the resources for further survival are found in Africa,” said Augusto da Silva Cunha.
According to OPEC, Angola’s proven gas reserves amount to 301 billion cubic meters and oil reserves to 2.5 billion barrels. According to this indicator, the country ranks second on the continent after Nigeria and Mozambique.
Russian Ambassador to Angola Vladimir Tararov he said that for now the country cannot replace supplies of Russian gas, as there is no necessary infrastructure.
