Virus carried by migratory birds
This virus is carried by migratory birds and can be transmitted to other birds by some species of mosquitoes, primarily the prevalent mosquito (Culex pipiens). The tiger mosquito can also transmit it, but it is not deemed the main vector.
Horses and humans can be infected as terminal hosts. The virus can for that reason no more time be transmitted, both to a mosquito or to one more human or animal.
Most asymptomatic infections
In individuals, most bacterial infections (80%) remain asymptomatic and 20% cause flu-like signs. Problems (encephalitis and meningitis) come about in less than 1% of instances.
The aged and the immunosuppressed are the most at threat. Specialists advise them to shield them selves by covering up and utilizing mosquito repellents.
