Tangerang

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and his wife and children visited the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition. Kang Emil, as he is affectionately known, had stopped by at the electric car brand booth.

In detikcom’s monitoring, Friday (18/8/2023) Ridwan Kamil was accompanied by Atalia Praratya, and Camillia Laetitia Azzahra. The three of them walked together stopping by the electric car booth.

Kang Emil was sitting in the Great Wall Motor (GWM) Ora 3 and Mercedes Benz EQS 450 4 Matic cars. On this occasion, Kang Emil had talked with the salesperson but did not make a purchase.

“So here I look around range it’s the middle class, right? Rp. 600 million, Rp. 700 million, Rp. 800 million. Usually, official cars are numbered range that much,” said Kang Emil at ICE BSD Tangerang, Banten, Friday (18/8/2023).

Before visiting GIIAS 2023, the Governor of West Java attended a coordination meeting with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding air pollution issues in Jabodetabek.

Apart from Kang Emil, the meeting was attended by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and the Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar along with a number of other Advanced Indonesia Cabinet ministers.

Kang Emil then explained the results of a study regarding the sources of pollutants that had been collected by the government. As a result, the highest concentration of PM2.5 pollution particles still comes from motor vehicles. Meanwhile, from PLTU it is only around 25 percent.

He said the directives for civil servant workers were clear to replace cars internal combustion engine (ICE) to the car battery electric vehicles (BEV).

“Yes, Mr. Luhut’s orders are all civil servants, one who has the right to an official car has started to conceptualize an electric car. West Java has it. All the service heads use Ioniq 5, leasing it, we have made it a tradition,” said Ridwan Kamil.

“For civil servants who buy private cars, it’s time to switch to electric cars. Especially in the Greater Jakarta area that we discussed earlier, 70 percent of pollution comes from vehicles, so it’s time for an option to convert to electric cars to reduce pollution.”

“I’ve been using it for three years, the first Hyundai, Ioniq 5, test drive 6, and others. The point is, it’s time,” he continued.
