The judge in the court in east London also banned 27-year-old Zouma, who has made eleven A-international appearances for France, to own a cat for five years.
The incident received a lot of attention when the English newspaper The Sun in February published a film in which Zouma appeared to kick and hit the cat. Kurt Zouma’s brother Yoan was the one who filmed the animal cruelty.
After the animal abuse became known, Zouma deprived her two cats. He also lost sponsors, was fined the equivalent of SEK 3 million and has not been selected for the national team since. At West Ham, however, he had to continue playing, which received some criticism. However, the club donated the equivalent of a few million kronor to animal rights organizations after the incident.
