West Ham’s kicking defender Kurt Zouma was left out of the squad to face Leicester City on Sunday after he reported feeling unwell during warm-up.

Zouma had been named in the starting XI by Hammers boss David Moyes for the trip to King Power, despite calls for him to be dropped following his animal controversy.

But the France international, 27, reported feeling unwell during the warm-up and was replaced in full-back by compatriot Issa Diop.

The defender had been picked for the Premier League clash after Moyes apologized to the public for Zouma’s “terrible” actions.

Moyes had said he would make the star available for their big East Midlands clash despite original reports that he would be ruled out of the match.

Zouma and West Ham have faced a huge public backlash after video surfaced last week of the £30m footballer kicking and slapping his cat.

The Hammers boss said Friday that “we all make mistakes” and hopes people see forgiveness with Zouma in the future.

“We have to give people opportunities,” Moyes said. “He said that he was wrong, he made a big mistake, so I hope people see it in a different way and see it with forgiveness.”
