‘West Ham United will hold a special place in my heart’

The attacking midfielder leaves the door open for a possible return to the London stadium as he prepares to return to Old Trafford.

Lingard has written a heartfelt farewell message from West Ham United thanking the coaches for “helping him find his true self back on the pitch” and the fans for “supporting him from the second he arrived” at the club.

Lingard joined West Ham in January on loan as a player on a seemingly downward trajectory, but returns to Manchester United as one of the fittest players in the Premier League.

The English international helped the Hammers realize their potential in the 2020/21 season as he helped them qualify for the Europa League with a Premier League points record.

Impressed with his services, the East London team reportedly plans to push for a permanent move for the player who scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances for the club.

“What a way to end the season,” Lingard wrote in a Instagram post.

“Reaching our goal with this amazing group of guys feels amazing! We try so hard and we never give up! I feel so lucky to have been able to come to such a welcoming environment, everyone related to the club has shown me how special this club is.

«Thanks to the coach who believed in bringing me here. Thanks to all the staff who have facilitated my integration into the club so quickly. Thanks to the coaches who helped me find my true self on the field.

“Thanks to the fans who supported me from the first moment, it was incredible to be able to play against you on the last day.

Thanks to a special group of boys, besides having made new friends for life, training and playing with all of you has been one of the best moments of my career.

Whatever the future, West Ham United will hold a special place in my heart.
