West Ham United is not seriously in the market for Ajax captain, reports Florian Plettenberg. The German journalist thus contradicts a lot of media.
Much has been written in recent days about West Ham United’s interest in Bergwijn. Fabrizio Romano, the world’s most famous transfer expert, even stated that the 26-year-old attacker is one of the London club’s main targets in January.
However, according to Plettenberg, a transfer from Bergwijn to West Ham United is not an option at the moment. The journalist writes that the Premier League club is not seriously considering signing the attacker from Ajax this month. There are other players on the wish list.
West Ham United did business with Ajax twice last summer. First, Edson Álvarez was picked up for 38 million euros (excluding bonuses) in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, shortly afterwards Mohammed Kudus followed the same path for 43 million euros (excluding bonuses).
