West Ham will face competition from Tottenham and Inter Milan to sign one of their main targets in midfield this summer, according to reports.
The Hammers have signed three players so far during the transfer window, though they still have a lot to spend. They loaned Watford’s Craig Dawson permanent for just £ 2 million, while winger Thierry Nevers joined for free from Reading.
Alphonse Areola arrived on loan in July from Paris Saint-Germain. He has yet to make his London Stadium debut after being kept on the bench during the Victoria 4-2 sobre Newcastle United.
West Ham they remain active in the market and are reportedly staring at Cagliari star Nahitan Nandez.
That’s according to Italian source La Repubblica (via Sport Witness), who claim Nandez ‘will surely carry on’ this month.

The report also provides an update on Inter’s persecution of the 25-year-old.
Nandez is looking forward to joining the Serie A champions, although negotiations between the two clubs have stalled.
Another Italian medium, Sport Mediaset, assures that the Uruguayan international has ‘closed the door’ to Inter due to the impasse in transfers.
He is reportedly looking to join a different club this month, which puts West Ham and Tottenham in the driver’s seat.
The Spurs first linked up with him on Sunday in the midst of their search for reinforcements for the team.

They could bring Nandez to North London if they sell to Moussa Sissoko or Harry Winks.
Nandez, with 41 caps at the international level, tends to operate on the right side of the midfield.
However, he can play centrally or in a more defensive role if necessary.
The West Ham star Lingard’s plea
West Ham has been strongly linked to Jesse Lingard this summer following his impressive loan period last term.
The English international scored nine goals in 16 games and was vital to his European qualification.
However, Manchester United does not seem willing to sell and has set its price at £ 30 million, which is out of the Hammers’ reach.
