West Ham manager David Moyes is hoping to seal Jesse Lingard’s permanent transfer from Manchester United after the Euro 2020 snub

West Ham will reportedly step up its bid to permanently sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United following his anguish with England.

Lingard’s snub at Euro 2020 has been a major blow to the midfielder, who enjoyed an enormously impressive loan period with the Hammers last season.

David Moyes hopes Jesse Lingard hasn’t said goodbye to West Ham fans forever

The 28-year-old ended his stay at London Stadium with 14 goal contributions in 16 games for the club [nine goals, five assists].

Having just arrived in January, he left as a fan favorite and West Ham’s newest hero, having played an important role in helping the club secure European football for the first time in five years.

His electric form even saw him called up to England’s fold ahead of the Euro, but it wasn’t enough to earn him a call-up for Gareth Southgate’s final team for the tournament.

However, The Sun claims that David Moyes is now hopeful that his release from international duty will work in West Ham’s favor.

The Hammers coach is said to believe a permanent transfer from United can be finalized soon, as talks will no longer have to wait until after this summer’s tournament.

Lingard wore a player reborn with the Hammers and is wanted in a permanent signing

A club source told the newspaper: “Jesse knows we want him, so hopefully the club will come after him in the next month.”

Lingard won the Premier League Goal of the Month award in April for his impressive solo goal against Wolves, and played alongside his Hammers teammate Declan Rice in England’s friendlies against Austria and Romania, with the couple making instant friendship in the capital.

Lingard may have missed the final 26-man match for Euro 2020, but technically he is still on hold until Saturday in the event of an injury, so he could still be called up to the team.

His future at Manchester United is unclear as he did not make a single Premier League appearance in the first half of the 2020/21 season after losing favor with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

West Ham is desperate to agree to sign the attacker on a permanent deal, but Solskjaer has maintained that the Red Devils are hoping Lingard will return to Old Trafford after his loan.

“Jesse has been brilliant since he left,” said the Norwegian towards the end of the 2020/21 season.

“Selfishly, we could have kept him because he always has a role to play, he’s a fantastic guy on the spot, Man United from start to finish, never once did he moan or cause me a problem, he just worked really hard.

Bent and Cascarino say Jesse Lingard is an aspiring player of the season and that £ 30 million would be a steal for West Ham to sign the midfielder permanently.

“He deserved the opportunity to play more football, so we let him go to West Ham because he deserves a chance because of what he has done throughout his life for Man United.

«Of course, we [will] welcome you back.

«It was different here [with] Bruno [Fernandes and] the way he’s played, possibly Jesse’s favorite position, and that was just a decision we made.

“I am delighted, however, for Jesse and wish him all the best for the rest of the season until he returns.”
