West Ham has £ 35 million to spend on a forward and will be looking for the best available at that price, which is likely to exclude Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.
The information comes from Claret y Hugh, a West Ham site with links to the club’s hierarchy.
They have listed all the things they know when West Ham enters the summer transfer window. They are:
- The club wants to sign Jesse Lingard.
- Slavia Prague striker Abdallah Sima is a target.
- Declan Rice stays.
- Fabián Balbuena leaves.
- David Martin leaves.
- Issa Diop is almost certain to stay.
- The club will attract the best striker it can find for a sum of up to £ 35 million.
That probably excludes Chelsea forward Abraham, who need a transfer this summer to return to the English computation.
In addition to Abraham and Sima, West Ham is also associated with forwards Olivier Giroud, Adam Armstrong, Ivan Toney, Gaetan Laborde and Red Bull Salzburg man Patson Daka.
The latter has scored 27 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, but would be available for just £ 25 million, which would be well within the Hammers’ budget. The problem? Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal. Manchester United and Manchester City are also linked.
But according to a Zambia soccer websiteWest Ham is the favorite to sign Daka as they can presumably offer him first-team football as the club’s sole striker.
Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig is also said to be interested in Daka, but it seems their heart is set on moving to West Ham where they will play the Europa League.
He replaces Sebastien Haller, who joined Ajax from West Ham in January in a £ 20m deal that left the Hammers without a recognized striker.
The Montpellier Laborde striker could be another option this summer, as L’Equipe claimed earlier this week that West Ham is in charge of the 27-year-old, although Zenit St Petersburg are also interested.
The Frenchman has scored 16 goals in Ligue Un this season and has spoken of his desire to play European football, which would be available with the Hammers next season.
