“West Ham fan Knollsy hailed as hero after stopping AZ Alkmaar ultras’ violent rampage during Europa Conference League game”

In a dramatic twist during the Europa Conference League game between AZ Alkmaar and West Ham, AZ Alkmaar ultras broke down a door as West Ham beat their team 1-0, clinching a place in the final.

However, it was the actions of Knollsy, a brave West Ham fan, that garnered attention as he intervened to prevent further violence.

Dressed in hoods and black masks, the group known as the “Ben Side Ultras” charged into the stands where the families of the players were gathered after the final whistle.

But the gritty and violent scenes weren’t enough to scare off Knollsy.

Instead, he stood with another fan at the top of the stairs leading to the seats, beating up the Dutch hooligans as they tried to climb.

West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola called Chris a “legend” while his wife, Marrion, called him the “greatest hero”.

Knollsy, a lifelong West Ham fan, simply said he did what he had to do to prevent further violence and protect others.

“I’m not a hero, I just did what I had to do. There was another guy defending. I don’t like bullies, I had to try to stop them. I just thought the best way to defend was to attack,” Knollsy said in an interview with MailOnline.
