West Ham come alive with Danny Ings’ double and Declan Rice’s screamer against Nottingham Forest to take the pressure off David Moyes

West Ham secured three crucial points in their battle for Premier League survival when they thrashed Nottingham Forest for four on Saturday.

They headed into the relegation zone clash following their 2-0 defeat at Tottenham last weekend.

The 30-year-old then added a quick second.

However, David Moyes’s side put in an inspiring second-half performance to bolster their hopes of staying on their feet.

Moments after Lukasz Fabianski was substituted with a serious eye injury, Danny Ings scored his first of the afternoon.

The striker, who made his first start for the club since his January transfer from Aston Villa, stepped in after Jarrod Bowen’s release.

Three minutes later, he doubled the hosts’ lead with a rough shot from inside the box, with the forward hitting the post afterwards, to put his side in control.

West Ham’s afternoon got even better when Declan Rice scored a beauty from outside the box, his second goal of the campaign.

With five minutes remaining, Michail Antonio came off the bench and completed the 4-0 lead with a header.

Antonio racked up more misery at Forest with his stoppage-time goal

The Hammers have now moved up to 16th in the table following the win and are two points clear of the bottom three.

It could provide them with much-needed motivation to move further up the table and ensure they stay in the Premier League next season, while also taking the pressure off under-fire boss Moyes.

Forest, on the other hand, failed to build on their impressive draw against Manchester City last weekend.

Steve Cooper’s team is still 13, but is now three league games without a win.
