West Ham appoint former Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Rangers and QPR manager Mark Warburton as first-team assistant coach

West Ham United have appointed Mark Warburton as their new first-team assistant coach.

The 59-year-old arrives at the London Stadium after former first-team manager Stuart Pearce resigned from his role.

Warburton left QPR earlier this summer and will now become a first-team assistant manager at West Ham.

Warburton previously managed Brentford, Rangers, Nottingham Forest and QPR and even led the west London side to a top half in the Championship last season before leaving the club this summer after three seasons in charge.

He will assume his new role when the Hammers return for preseason training this weekend and will join Billy McKinlay, Paul Nevin, Kevin Nolan and Xavi Valero on David Moyes’ coaching staff.

Warburton said: “It is a great privilege to join West Ham United to work as part of David Moyes’ backroom staff.

“West Ham have made incredible progress in recent seasons, continually moving forward to move the club in a positive direction.

“I’m excited to come and add my own experience and knowledge to what is an incredibly strong coaching team here.”

Moyes added: “I am very pleased to welcome Mark to West Ham United. He’s a really valuable addition to the backroom team, after Stuart Pearce left us at the end of last season.

Pearce was appointed first-team assistant coach when David Moyes returned to the club, but stepped down earlier this year.
