West Ham and Sassuolo reach £35.5m deal for Gianluca Scamacca

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United and Saussolo have finally reached an agreement on a £35.5m move for Gianluca Scamacca with the Hammers now discussing personal terms. The 23-year-old enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 season, scoring 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for the Neroverdi.

While Sassuolo signed Gianluca Scamacca from PSV Eindhoven in January 2017, the young striker struggled to get game time for the Neroverdi as he was loaned out for multiple spells. That includes time in Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa with Scamacca thriving in Genoa during the 2020/21 season. He saw the striker score 12 goals in all competitions for the Italian team and that made Sassuolo trust him.

Things worked out perfectly as Scamacca finished the 2021/22 season with 16 goals in his first full season with the Neroverdi. However, the 23-year-old’s form, talent and improvement over the years have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe with reports indicating that PSG were the favourites. But although the Parisians have since withdrawn, Sky Sports has reported that West Ham and Sassuolo have reached an agreement on an initial fee of £30.5m plus £5m in add-ons.

The report has indicated that the deal included a 10% sell-off clause for the Neroverdis, although the Hammers and Scamacca have yet to agree on personal terms. However, Sky Sports have revealed that the club believe that will not be a problem as Scamacca are open to a move. Not only that, the report has further indicated that West Ham are still in talks with chelsea for a play by Armando Broja but the Hammers have only budgeted for one of the two forwards.
