West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee denies calling Union Home Minister Amit Shah after the Trinamool Congress lost national party status, warning of legal action.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has denied that she called Home Minister Amit Shah after her party, the Trinamool Congress, lost its national party status. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari had claimed that Banerjee had called Shah several times requesting her party’s national status be retained, which Banerjee denied and demanded proof. The Trinamool Congress is taking legal action against Adhikari and Shah over the claims. Banerjee also attacked the Election Commission for stripping her party’s national status, calling into question the review process. She also commented on opposition efforts to team up against the BJP ahead of next year’s national elections.
