V. Lazdāns’ art is emotionally expressive and arises from the interplay between subconscious images and material. Whether it is an oil painting or a piece of clay, which is subject to subconscious impulses in the process of creating a work of art, they become an authentic object. Significantly, the works are being created to the first technique or in one go, thus maintaining a lively, first-touch touch that cannot be repeated. V. Lazdāns’ works tell and remind us about a person’s inner or spiritual space, which is more of a hunch than understandable.
V. Lazdāns graduated from the Painting Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. He has organized several solo exhibitions in Latvia, as well as participated in group exhibitions. The artistic language of V. Lazdāns from portrait and figural compositions tends to more and more abstraction. The creative handwriting has a living stroke and an intuitive shape.
