Streets of New York is an exhibition about the life of the Big Apple, as captured by five great photographers. Organized by David Hill et Carrie Scott and featuring never-before-seen images, the exhibition includes works from the late 1940s to the early 1970s, the period generally considered the golden age of street photography.
In alphabetical order, the five photographers of Streets of New York are Werner Bishopthe first non-founding member of Magnum Photos; Mario Carnicelliwho this year received the first Viviane Esders Prize in recognition of her career as a photographer; Harold Feinsteindescribed by the New York Times as “one of the most accomplished photographers”; Larry Finkhugely influential, with many exhibitions, photobooks and books on photographic theory to his name; Marc RiboudMagnum Photos photographer, whose humanistic eye has captured some of the most iconic images.
Bringing together the photographs of these artists in the same exhibition makes it possible to better understand their work, the era and the importance of the genre. The exhibition gives a better insight into their work, the era and the importance of the genre.
