“We’re leaving empty-handed, we have nothing left!”

The hundredth Dijon International and Gastronomic Fair closed on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Despite a drop in attendance, exhibitors say they are delighted with this centenary edition. Met.

Two weeks after its opening, the hundredth Dijon International and Gastronomic Fair closed its doors this Thursday, November 11. This was the big comeback of the event, canceled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 crisis. The time has now come to take stock for the 2021 edition.

This fair attracted fewer crowds: 110,000 visitors, nearly 50,000 less than in 2019. Exhibitors and organizers nevertheless agree that this centenary is a success. For them, the enthusiasm of visitors for their products offset the drop in attendance.

Tiffany Schmitt, new exhibitor

It was really great, a super dynamic fair, it allowed us to make ourselves known in the Côte-d’Or and Burgundy, so we are delighted. There were a lot of people on the weekends, it was super dynamic. During the week, we mostly saw locals who came to eat in the evenings after 6 p.m. We would be delighted to do it again next year.

Thierry Rousselle, exhibitor for 20 years

The fair went well, even though we had fewer people than usual. It is a year of transition, Covid obliges. I come back every year and last year we missed it. In any case, I have found my usual clientele for 20 years, it’s a good fair.

Jérémy Baca, new exhibitor

I come from Toulouse. This is my first fair in Dijon. Apparently there were fewer people this year, but they were very fond of our products so we are very happy. We leave empty, we have nothing! We will bring back products next year, it will be with pleasure that we come back!

Jean Bertrand, exhibitor for four years

It went very well for us. There may have been fewer visitors, but these are visitors who consume and are interested in what we are doing. We are farmers, we feel that there is a return to local products. We think we will come back, anyway. There’s no reason we can’t come back.

Nadine Bazin, president of Dijon Congrexpo

We are satisfied. We expected a larger drop in attendance. Our exhibitors are also generally satisfied. They had fewer customers, but good customers, who didn’t hesitate to come back several times. Here we go again: our visitors are not ready to do without the fair.

Exhibitors and visitors will normally be able to meet again next year. If the health situation allows it, the International and Gastronomic Fair should hold its 101st edition in the fall of 2022.
