Three out of four Dutch people are going on a summer holiday this year and Germany, France, Spain and Italy are especially popular. But many people have no idea what the possible corona measures are in the country of destination. This emerges from a representative survey by I&O Research among more than 2000 Dutch people.
In some countries, corona measures still apply. This is how in France in Portugal be asked for a vaccination, recovery or test certificate upon entry. This proof is also mandatory if you are admitted to hospital.
Slightly more than half of the respondents say they know which corona rules apply in the holiday country. The rest suspect that there may or may not be any measures, or have no idea at all.
Of the people who go to France, 11 percent know that certain regulations apply. For Portugal that is a third.
‘Irresponsible’
According to researcher Asher van der Schelde, we are looking at traveling abroad differently this year. Last summer many people went on holiday in their own country. Summer also started with a coronapiek.
“Last July, half of the Dutch thought it was irresponsible to go on holiday abroad. Now that is only 9 percent. People are going abroad again, corona or not,” says Van der Schelde.
Most people go by car. 41 percent take the plane.
