Werder Bremen flop Sambou Yatabare still finds a new club!

It has become quiet around Sambou Yatabare. No wonder: the former SV Werder Bremen professional has not played a competitive game for more than 20 months and has been without a club since the summer. Until now: The 31-year-old has found a new club. He moves to the French second division for Amiens SC.

Sambou Yatabare applies to fans of the SV Werder Bremen as one of the biggest transfer flops in recent years. In January 2016, the then sports director Thomas Eichin transferred 2.5 million euros to Olympiacos for the “absolute dream player”. In the Green-Whites, the then national player of Mali only made twelve competitive games (one Bundesliga goal) for the first and eleven for the second team. The then trainer Alexander Nouri had sorted him out in autumn 2016.

Overall, it just wasn’t a good chapter between Sambou Yatabare and Werder Bremen.

In the summer of 2017, Werder initially awarded Yatabare Royal Antwerp, sold it to the Belgians a year later for very little money. There it was over after two years – although it was no longer used in the 2020/21 season. His last competitive game was on May 19, 2019. The midfielder was last without a club for half a year. Now the French second division team gives him Amiens SC a new chance. Amiens is near Yatabare’s birthplace, Beauvais. The club from northern France is currently ninth in the table under Ligue 2.
