The early bird catches the worm…
Thanks to the goal guarantors Marvin Ducksch (27) and Niclas Füllkrug (29) Werder greets from the top of the table. Together they scored more than half of all Werder goals this season. But the self-proclaimed “ugly birds” are in no hurry.
Only after the break there’s the Werder party
If Werder has to play the North Derby in Hamburg on Sunday (1.30 p.m.), HSV should dress particularly warmly from 2.30 p.m. Because then the second half begins and Ole Werner’s team turns up the heat. Werder scored a total of 34 goals after the break this season – that’s by far the best in the league!
Football boss Clemens Fritz to BILD: “It speaks for the fitness of our team and the patience, calm and trust in your own strength that you have to have in such phases.”
The storm duo Ducksch and Füllkrug always have patience. Above all, the filling jug almost only gets really hot in the second half. His last goal before the break was more than a year ago: on October 17, 2020 he scored in Freiburg (1-1) in the 25th minute to make the final score.
Storm colleague Ducksch has already proven this season that he can score at the beginning of a game. But he also made eleven of his 13 stalls after the change of sides.
The statistics underline Werder’s great comeback qualities. In this season, the league leaders fell behind ten times – but then only lost five times.
