Wendy Williams has aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. The team of the 59-year-old American presenter announced this in a statement to American media. The statement comes two days before the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? appears.
Williams’ team is opening up about her situation to “correct untrue and hurtful rumors about her health.” “There has been a lot of speculation about her health, especially as she cannot find words, sometimes behaves erratically and has difficulty understanding information.”
Williams was diagnosed in 2023. The diseases cause patients to have difficulty communicating and understanding language. They can also cause someone’s personality to change and make them no longer able to empathize.
The documentary will be released on February 24 Where Is Wendy Williams?. It follows the presenter’s life after she stopped working. Williams last presented her program in 2022 The Wendy Williams Showwhich she has been making since 2008.
Her family also has their say in the documentary. They say they have had little contact with Williams since she was placed under guardianship in 2023. It is not clear who the presenter’s curator is.
Last year it was announced that actor Bruce Willis also suffers from both aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
