Lawsuit Filed Against Lifetime by Wendy Williams’ Court-Appointed Caregiver
A lawsuit has been filed against Lifetime by Sabrina Morrissey, the court-appointed caregiver responsible for Wendy Williams. Morrissey, who has remained publicly unknown until now, filed the sealed lawsuit for injunctive relief in New York Supreme Court on Thursday. The lawsuit seeks to stop the distribution of a major documentary titled “Where Is Wendy Williams?” chronicling her deteriorating mental state. The lawsuit involves A+E Networks, the parent company of Lifetime, and Entertainment One Reality Productions who produced the documentary.
The Lawsuit and Temporary Restraining Order
The lawsuit, acting in Morrissey’s capacity as Temporary Guardian, includes a request for a temporary restraining order against Lifetime and Entertainment One Reality Productions to halt the distribution of the documentary.
A+E Networks Appeal
On Friday, A+E Networks filed an appeal in response to the lawsuit and the judge has ordered temporary sealing of the case documents. A court date has been set for next week to consider the matter.
Response from Lifetime
Kannie Yu LaPack, Lifetime’s executive vice president of publicity, public affairs, and social media, confirmed that Lifetime appeared in court on Friday. However, no specific details about the proceedings were shared. Yu LaPack mentioned that the documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” will still air as planned over the coming weekend.
Documentary Details
The two-part documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” was filmed between August 2022 and April 2023, documenting Williams’ health and mental state as they deteriorated. Williams has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, in addition to autoimmune disorder Graves’ disease and lymphedema. The film covers her struggles with addiction and autoimmune disorders.
Caregiver Appointment and Restrained Access
Morrissey was appointed as Williams’ caregiver amidst her public downfall, and her access is limited to Williams’ facility. Williams, who is currently under Morrissey’s care, remains unreachable to anyone else.
