The organizers of the concert remind that on February 1, 1921, diplomatic relations were established between Latvia and Germany when Germany de iure acknowledged the existence of the Latvian state. On August 28, 1991, bilateral relations between the two countries were resumed. The German Embassy in Latvia has decided to celebrate these historical events with a special concert in the Concert Hall “Cēsis”, in the creation of which significant creative forces in the world music scene have been involved.

“Music unites our countries in a very special way. It is nice that after a long refusal, it is possible to enjoy music in person again,” says Christian Heldt, the German Ambassador to Latvia.

The program will be opened by Mozart’s “Musical Joke”, followed by a concert by his clarinet – one of the composer’s last works before his untimely death. The concert is written for the first clarinet virtuoso in the history of music, Anton Stadler, and will be performed by the Austrian interpretation of Wenceslas Fuchs. The program also includes works by film music master Nino Rota. Kristīne Balana, the artist of this year’s residence in the Cēsis Concert Hall, will play baroque
