Welsh international Jonathan Davies, who played for Clermont, ends his career

At 36, Jonathan Davies bows out. The former Welsh international center, British Lions and Clermont, announced his retirement from sports on Sunday.

The rugby player therefore closes a career with 96 caps and four victories in the Six Nations Tournament, including two Grand Slams (2012, 2019).

Davies ‘incredibly proud’ of his career

“After taking a step back from the game, and following the end of my last season with the Scarlets (Welsh club), I made the decision to end my career as a professional rugby player,” wrote the player on Instagram. “I will miss the atmosphere of training, competition and the bond with my teammates, but in recent months I have been able to take stock of a career of which I am incredibly proud.”

Jonathan Davies left his club Scarlets at the end of last season, a team with which he scored 55 tries. As well as his career with Wales, which saw him appear in two World Cups, Davies completed two tours with the British and Irish Lions.

He also spent two seasons in the French Top 14 with Clermont (2014-16), playing in a European Cup final in 2015, lost to Toulon.
